In celebration of my new blog home - Korean Bapsang (formerly Eating and Living), I am giving away this wonderful rice cooker! As I explained in my last post, Bapsang (밥상) means a table at which meals are enjoyed. The word bapsang is made up of two words bap (cooked rice) and sang (table). From this, you can tell how important rice is in Korean cuisine. You'll almost always find rice on the Korean table. For this reason, every Korean household owns an electronic rice cooker or two for everyday use. So, I thought a rice cooker would be a perfect giveaway for the occasion!
If you already own a rice cooker, this will be a nice gift to a special person in your life. I gave this rice cooker to my niece for her birthday last year, and she loved it. She said it makes delicious rice very quickly and is easy to disassemble and clean. There are multiple functions that are easy to use, such as cooking brown rice or porridge.
This giveaway is NOT sponsored by Cuckoo or anyone else. It's a token of my heartfelt thanks to my readers and supporters. Cuckoo is the top-selling brand of rice cookers in Korea. This 3-cup capacity cooker is perfect for a single person or a small family. The rice cooker was $110 at a local Korean market.
So, here's your chance to own a Korean-style rice cooker!
This giveaway is open to World-wide readers. It will be open until midnight (U.S. Eastern Standard time) Thursday, September 20, 2012.
To enter the giveaway: {CLOSED}
1. Simply leave a comment on this page stating how you are following this blog (e.g., via Facebook, Google+, Twitter, Google friend connect, RSS Feed, etc.). Please identify yourself. Entries from "unknown" or "anonymous" will be disqualified.
2. For bonus entries: Share this post through your favorite social media (Facebook, Google Plus, Twitter, link on your blog, etc.). Come back here and leave a comment on where you shared the post. You're allowed to enter up to 2 bonus entries.
(NOTE: This rice cooker is made for the standard U.S. 110 volt electricity. If the winner is from outside the U.S. where a different voltage standard is used, a cash payment of $110 will be made through PayPal in lieu of the rice cooker.)
------------------------------------------------------------------------
Thank you so much for all your participation and support! It appeared that I wasn't clear as to how to enter bonus entries. As a result, some of you didn't write separate comments for bonus entries when you shared the post. Don't worry! Those bonus entries were manually added to the spreadsheet of numbered entries linked below.

Anyong haseyo! My name is Catherine K. and I've been a follower of your blog for quite some time now. The way I follow you is a bit simple - I have your blog bookmarked to the bar at the top of my internet page! Super easy access!
ReplyDeleteAbout a two years ago, I fell in love with Korean food. My boyfriend's closest friend is Korean, and his family has become like family to me. My boyfriend and I would take Korean speaking/writing lessons from our friend every Thursday and his mom would always feed us delicious, heart-warming meals. Ever since then I have been working at recreating the wonderful Korean dishes that I love so much.
Your blog has become my favorite go-to for authentic Korean flavor. I used so many of your recipes to create yummy dishes, from Kimchi jeon to Tteokbokki (my favorite snack) to Doenjang jjigae and so on! I have even written down my favorites in my recipe journal, which has been solely dedicated to my journey with Korean food. My best experience with re-creating your recipes came when my Korean friend's mother (who owns a Korean restaurant) tasted my Tteokbokki and actually really enjoyed it! Now she shares her cooking secrets with me and is even going to let me lend a hand in making her next batch of kimchi!
I don't currently own a rice cooker, but I have been saving up slowly to get myself a really nice one. If I won this contest it would be absolutely thrilled! A good rice cooker is so essential to traditional Korean dining as rice is basically the center of everything (or so I've learned!). I hope that I might win this contest and further my endeavors as a Korean-food-lover & learner.
Thanks for your constant and continuous inspiration and for helping me feed my soul!
Jalmukesumneda!
(P.S. You can find me on Instagram @veganslikeitraw! Tons of my Korean food pictures!)

ReplyDeleteI just shared this post to your blog via my Facebook and my Instagram accounts! I hope this helps towards my chances!
